President Donald Trump’s very lousy tweet about global warming prompted a ton of responses from people and organizations that actually understand how climate science works, such as The Weather Channel.
In Trump’s tweet Thursday evening, he stated that the eastern U.S., currently experiencing a cold, “could use a small amount of good old Global Warming. ” Even if the tweet has been an attempt at a joke, it’s incredibly harmful to send this kind of info out to people–especially if a large portion of Americans don’t think that climate change may affect them.
The Weather Channel responded to Trump using a listing of facts:
1) there’s a difference between #weather and #climate.
2) Short-term #cold snaps will last to occur in a warming climate.
3) 2017 will likely be a leading three warmest year on record for the planet.
Yes, cold snaps are now tied to global warming! Trump’s tweet is invalid, but you probably already knew that.
