MACON, Ga. — Some parents want students to utilize see-through backpacks along with also a Georgia school district is begging for people to lock their guns after a student brought a loaded weapon in his basic classroom.
The Telegraph reports that the gun had been found in a pupil’s jacket just before school ended Wednesday at Taylor Elementary School in Bibb County.
Following a fourth-grade teacher overheard students talking about the weapon, the school’s emergency team found the loaded 9 millimeter weapon in a pupil’s jacket in a vacant classroom. No one was hurt.
A statement in the school district states two students had touched the gun, and three other people knew about it but didn’t warn adults.
The district’s security director, David Gowan, said a criminal investigation is active.
