Chris Christie wants to enjoy his summer. America will not let him.
Even the New Jersey governor and dedicated fan of the New York Mets was watching the Mets play with the St. Louis Cardinalson Tuesday night after he caught a foul ball from the third row in Citi Field.
The grab –a barehanded left handed catch he made while seated — was impressive. But instead of cheers, the crowd reacted into the Republican’s fortune with yells and loud boos, based on reports.
No one seemed to care or notice that he gave the ball into a child sitting a few rows . Even the game announcers seemed peeved about Christie’s catch.
“Nice to see him access from the beach to the ballpark,” Cardinals broadcaster Dan McLaughlinquipped about the telecast.
Christie is among the least well-known governors in New Jersey history, with polls showing that he has a 15 percent approval score.
It didn’t help that the governor was recently photographed lounging in an empty beach in New Jersey that he’d ordered closed to the people amid a state government shutdown during the beginning of July weekend. The beach included a governor’s home in Island Beach State Park.
Once asked by reporters July 1 about his beach getaway, Christie responded, “Run for governor, and you may have a residence there,” based on NJ Advance Media.
In an interview with MSNBC about exactly the same day as the Mets vs.Cardinals game, ” the guy said of his sanity standing, “I do care how I am perceived, however I am not likely to sacrifice my entire family for public perception,” including, “I needed to make a decision between political optics as well as my family. While I need to make a decision between the two, I have never made anything more economical to the folks of New Jersey — I am picking my family.”
Let’s only hope that Christie is creating some great memories this summer, since a great deal of people will not let him forget that the terrible ones.
