Black Mirror mocks Pizza Huts new self-driving vehicle

Dark Mirror once again proved its technology-driven dystopian nightmares aren’t as far off as we’d like to think.

Netflix  released the fourth season of the show. The third episode, branded “Crocodile,” comes with a woman who witnesses a pedestrian being hit by self-driving pizza delivery car. Without denying the incident, suffice it to state the wreck, at first apparently immaterial, becomes the epicenter of the plot.

The timing of the episode couldn’t have been improved.

On Monday, Pizza Hut announced on Twitter it might be partnering with Toyota to make–you guessed it–a self-driving pizza delivery car.

The automobile in Pizza Hut’s tweet appears even larger and scarier than the one from the show. It’s definitely much cuter than the little robot Dominos rolled out almost two decades back.

Black Mirror wasn’t about to allow a promotional chance like that go to waste.

Pizza Hut didn’t take long to respond, saying it isn’t Fence’s, the fictional pizza place that appears in two episodes of Black Mirror.

All of that goes to show that Black Mirror, that was created to show the unintended consequences of near-future technology, is doing its job flawlessly.
